I am a self-taught artist and have been developing my skills over the past 25 years to improve my paintings.
I grew up learning how to paint, do crafts and make pottery, which lead to developing my skills as a painter.
Having a full-time career working as a graphic designer and pastry chef did not leave a great deal of time for painting.
I spent many of those years creating paintings in acrylic, of which I found the medium to be too fast-drying, and layering the paint made being creative somewhat restrictive.
The arts have always been a great interest of mine. And my interest in pottery lead me to open a pottery studio in the early 2000s, creating many beautiful stoneware pieces, and for the previous four years, I made violins, violas and turned wood bowls. In the last 10 years, I began to paint in oils more often and developed my skills to create what I now find to be my true passion.
Even today I am still learning and believe I will always be learning, I am always looking to improve my techniques and experimenting with new and different ideas to be even more creative and accurate with my painting skills.
Statement
I paint to remember joyful places, people and times of my past.
Painting this way allows me to relive those great moments.
My only hope is that others will see their special moment in my paintings to bring a sense of solace and pleasure.
Painting in oils has become a passion of realism that brings me joy.
