September 3 – October 11
Artist Reception Sunday, September 20, 2 – 4pm

Ridgeway Artist, Michelle Morrissey is presenting some of her latest works in a solo exhibit entitled, “Skies and Travel Snaps”.   Michelle has expertly displayed an exquisite and varied sampling of her beautiful paintings, assemblages and photography for this show.    Michelle’s work reflects both a sense of strong design and  symbolic connectedness in each of her pieces.   Her travel snaps offer the viewer visions of her many travels whether it be views from a jet or the observations from ground level.  This exhibit is a wonderful collection on a number of skilled levels.  Her show runs until October 11, with Michelle in attendance at her Opening Reception on Sunday, September 20 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Michelle is a veteran art teacher specializing in media arts and design technology. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows over the past 20+ years including annual summer art festivals. She prefers to work in assemblage and mixed media incorporating her box constructions, photography and found objects collected from her many travels.  Find out more about Michelle and her work at http://www.michelle-morrissey.com

It is with much sadness that we advise of the passing of a dear friend, artist, patron and member of Arts Place Gallery, Dorothy Butcherd, on August 22, 2015.  Dorothy was an accomplished artist, having worked primarily as a silversmith, but also created beautiful, fresh watercolour paintings in later years.  Dorothy lived her life with strength and elegance.  A member of the gallery since 1980, she considered it “a window to the artists’ studios” and  she respected established artists as well as supporting emerging artists.  Her travels around the world yielded paintings that were expertly and skillfully created and rendered the warmth that Dorothy always radiated.  She will be dearly missed
