Arts Place Gallery Port Colborne Celebrates 20 Years
Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2012 Mayor Vance Badaway on behalf of the City of Port Colborne presented a framed certificate of achievement to Arts Place Gallery and its artist members and volunteers for their efforts over 20 years providing the community with a place to see works of art from local artists and beyond. Work seen in the gallery reflects what the various artists see in Port Colborne and Niagara as well as what they’ve seen beyond Niagara and sometimes beyond Canada as well. In addition to paintings, there are sculptures, pottery, glass, wood, jewellery and mixed-media works to be seen.
“Bravo For 20” an exhibition of current and former members’ art features paintings by one of the gallery’s most eminent former members Mary Prittie. The anniversary exhibition will be on display until June 17. Arts Place, 714 King St., is open Thursday to Sunday, from noon to 4:30 pm, admission is free.
